A Persian carpet is manufactured with the aid of a loom; the knotting of the carpet is done manually. The end result is strongly influenced by the number of warp threads used per cm. The more warp threads, the finer the piece. The weft threads are woven between the warp threads. After each interwoven weft thread (sometimes after two or three), a row of knots follows. A knot consists of a thread that is knotted around two warp threads and then cut off. The two ends of this thread, which are vertically positioned on the woven bottom, form the pile of the carpet.

A Frisé floor covering is a high-pile carpet, where the piles are cut instead of the loops. With Frisé, however, the yarns are twisted together so that they do not stand upright, but curl, as it were. This creates a very playful and lively effect, whereby it is true that you can see your footsteps when you walk on it. In contrast to the moquette carpet, almost every pile can be distinguished from the other.

The advantage of Frisé carpet is that the high pile feels soft and does not get dirty as quickly. Because dirt adheres more to high-pile carpet, it is a smart choice in case of allergies. This type of structure does require a little more maintenance than other structuresThis type of carpet is very suitable for living rooms and bedrooms. For intensive use, such as on stairs or with pets, Frisé is less suitable because of its high pile structure.
